Charges have been filed against the 23-year-old Renton woman whom police believe drove the vehicle that ran over and killed a man at Beaver Lake Park in Sammamish on Jan. 25.
Ka’Deidre Alana Rials is facing a felony hit-and-run charge as well as one count of identity theft in the second degree and two counts of vehicle prowl in the second degree.
The court set bail on Tuesday at $300,000.
Detectives believe Rials was the driver of a gold Infiniti SUV that ran over and killed 22-year-old Moises Elias Radcliffe after he had confronted car prowlers near the ballfields at Beaver Lake Park. Radcliffe was the son of a Seattle police officer.
Rials was arrested at a house in Skyway on Saturday and is one of three suspects, along with a 17-year-old female and a 16-year-old female, connected to the case. A 16-year-old male was also arrested in connection to the case on Jan. 28.
Detectives are still looking for the vehicle that was used in the homicide, which is believed to be a mid-size, mid-2000s SUV with five-point chrome wheels. They are asking anyone with information about this vehicle to call the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-3111 or 911.
Rials is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 15 at the King County Courthouse.
New case details emerge
Court documents revealed new details to the Jan. 25 homicide at Beaver Lake Park.
Radcliffe’s girlfriend reported to police that the two had returned to Radcliffe’s Subaru Legacy at Beaver Lake Park and found the vehicle’s passenger-side window had been smashed and her purse missing, according to the court papers.
She said Radcliffe got his handgun from the trunk of their car and ran toward a “tan-colored SUV” that appeared to be leaving the park. She said Radcliffe moved to the front of the vehicle and gave some kind of warning while pointing his gun.
She then reported hearing gunshots and the SUV striking Radcliffe, with the gunshots continuing after the collision and Radcliffe under the vehicle.
Five other witness accounts were provided. One witness reported seeing Radcliffe fire through the SUV’s front windshield. Another witness reported seeing the SUV “pushing” what she believed to be a male under the front of the car. A police examination of the scene “indicated that Radcliffe was dragged beneath the SUV for a considerable distance.”
One of the witnesses found her car had also been prowled at Beaver Lake Park, with prowlers stealing cash and a credit card.
Police were able to find Rials and another teenage female suspect using information from the stolen credit card, which was used at a Fred Meyer in Renton about 45 minutes after Radcliffe had died.
After arresting Rials, who claimed no knowledge of the incident, detectives noted that one of her fingers on her left hand was missing its entire fingernail. One of the teenage suspects told detectives at least one bullet struck the car, which “entered the windshield and sheared off defendant Rials’ left index fingernail.”
The same suspect also told detectives that the defendants didn’t realize the SUV had struck anyone until they saw Radcliffe’s death reported on the news.
