Sammamish police are investigating the attack of a Beaver Lake Middle School student, but say they believe there is no threat to the general public.

“There’s no immediate danger to the general public based on this assault,” Sgt. Bob Baxter said.

On the afternoon of Oct. 15, a 12-year-old girl was walking alone on the way home from school, according to the police report. She was walking near the 25800 block of Southeast 28th Street at approximately 2:45 p.m. and said she heard some rustling in the bushes, then felt someone pull her down by her backpack.

The girl told police that she landed, rolled onto her side and was kicked in the stomach then punched in the right eye. After the assault, she walked home, saying later that she couldn’t run because of the pain in her stomach. When her parents arrived, they called police.

Officers reported that the victim had obvious swelling on her cheekbone, as well as scratches on her forearms and neck.

The victim said that the assault occurred so quickly that she did not see her attacker’s face, but described him as being between the ages of 12 and 16, and approximately 5-foot-6-inches and 120 pounds. The suspect was reportedly wearing a black sweatshirt and pants, and dark shoes.
