Temperatures soaring into the 90s didn’t stop thousands from turning out for the eighth annual Sammamish Days festival Saturday in the Sammamish Commons Plaza.

Geared toward celebrating community and culture, those in attendance were treated to a multitude of dance and music performances from around the globe, which included Bharatanatyam dancers, Tahitian dance and Afro-Peruvian music and dance.

The day kicked off with the Sammamish Kids Mud Run, which also saw a few participants from City Hall, including Mayor Don Gerend and City Council member Christie Malchow.

Children had their pick of bouncy houses and slides to frequent as often as parents would allow. Over 20 vendors were stationed at their booths, some handing out free bottles of water to the attendees braving the heat.

Tropical shaved ice from Kona Ice was available in the food truck area to help people cool down, as were McCafe smoothies. Other food vendors included 314 Pie, Yummy Box Food Truck and Veg-Wich Bombay sandwiches.
