Expected strong winds ‘looking less likely’ National Weather Service says

Strong winds predicted in the early morning to blow over the Puget Sound area Thursday did not come in as expected, according to the National Weather Service. The high wind warning is still active in some areas, though.

Strong winds predicted in the early morning to blow over the Puget Sound area Thursday had not come in as expected by the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

King County and surrounding areas were in a high wind alert Thursday morning as winds predicted to be between 25-40 miles per hour were expected between 2-10 p.m.

As of 3 p.m., the National Weather Service said it “is looking less likely” the strong gusts would come through, but continued the high wind warning in some areas “at least a few more hours in case there is a surprise of some sort,” according to the service’s area forecast discussion.

There is still a chance intense surface pressure could develop, causing a few hours of high wind to nearly everywhere, the forum reads.

Showers are expected Friday evening with more rain, heavy at times, Saturday and Sunday.

Wet weather across the area is expected to continue Sunday through early next week.
