No dogs at Timberlake Park

The city of Issaquah is now banning dogs from Timberlake Park, bringing it into line with the rest of the parks in the city.

Citing public safety the city announced last week that the park, which was acquired by the city when South Cove was annexed into city limits, will be dog free. The city had received complaints that children and adults had been knocked down by off leash dogs, dogs had been in fights with other dogs and dogs had run off the trail onto private property. This, along with community safety and sanitation concerns, cause the city to change the previous rule.

The decision has raised the ire of many dog-owners in the city.

Dogs, on leash, can be walked on city sidewalks, the Tradition Plateau National Resources Conservation Area, Cougar, Squak and Tiger Mountain trails and in the Lake Sammamish State Park.

Dogs can be walked off leash at Bark Park in the Issaquah Highlands, Beaver Lake Park in Sammamish and at Marymoor Park in Redmond.
