Approximately 21,800 electric customers in Issaquah and Sammamish were affected by last weekend’s wind storms, according to a spokesperson for Puget Sound Energy.
The Eastside and Seattle regions were rocked by outages caused by heavy winds Saturday and early Sunday morning. Sustained winds reached up to 40 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service, with gusts up to 60 miles per hour being recorded on waterfront portions of Interstate highway 90.
A majority of the outages in north King County north of Renton were caused by downed wires or tree limbs on power lines, PSE spokesperson Akiko Oda said.
Most of these outages were restored by weekend’s end.
By 4 p.m. Tuesday PSE’s online outage map continued to record 15 outages in Sammamish, Klahanie and the Issaquah Highlands. Utility repair crews were canvasing neighborhoods to determine if there were more outages to fix, Oda said, and PSE was encouraging customers still experiencing outages to call 1-888-225-5773.
