Puget Sound Energy crews worked through the weekend and overnight to bring power back to areas affected by a Saturday wind storm. Still thousands remain without power Monday morning.

High winds and heavy rain caused power infrastructure to fail throughout the region, which kept more than 238,000 PSE customers without electricity Saturday, according to a PSE press release.

As of Monday at 6:30 a.m., the majority of the outages were isolated to Skagit and Whatcom Counties, still with about 34,000 customers without power.

“We understand the frustration at the time it takes to investigate damage, schedule and make repairs and provide accurate estimates about when power will be restored,” a PSE press release reads. “In most cases, crews are working on equipment that needs to be repaired before they can restore power to homes. Once those repairs are made, crews can move into individual neighborhoods and communities.”

There are still a handful of outages in the Sammamish and Issaquah area, according to the PSE’s outage map.

The company estimated most of the area in South King, Pierce and Thurston Counties, affected by large outages were restored Monday morning.

Whatcom, Skagit and North King Counties’ power will be restored by Tuesday morning.
