A run at a perfect season and a first-ever volleyball championship fell just short for Issaquah Friday night in Kennewick.
The Eagles, who had won 20 consecutive matches, dropped three games to Jackson — 25-13, 25-22, 25-12 — placing second in 4A.
Issaquah started out the tournament strong, winning its first three matches. The Eagles defeated Curtis (25-21, 25-20, 26-24), Woodinville (25-14, 25-23, 25-17) and Olympia (23-25, 25-15, 26-24, 25-22) to get to the title match.
Senior Rachel Roeder led the Eagles with 86 kills, 62 digs and seven blocks over four matches. Senior setter Riley Sorenson had a total of 164 assists over the four matches.
This was the highest placement ever for Issaquah, which finished third in 2005, and fifth in 2006 and 2009, respectively.
