The Issaquah Community Network is seeking funding proposals for community projects related to parenting and youth support services.

To be considered for funding, proposed projects must be seen to help make Issaquah a healthier place for children and families through one or more of the following:

• Improving parenting skills, family management skills;

• Increasing pro-social involvement for youth, and providing youth suicide prevention services;

• Increase skills and knowledge of Issaquah area youth, parents, and community on issues of youth depression/suicide and antecedent behaviors;

• Increase knowledge of and access to local prevention and intervention services and reduce attitudes of stigma to seeking services;

• Increase social bonding skills of youth to other youth, adults and schools as a key prevention-intervention strategy.

Grant-funded services must be delivered within the Issaquah School District boundaries. Eligible applicants must represent a 501c3 organization, and meet the guidelines specified in the application form, which can be obtained by contacting Issaquah Community Network Executive Director Barbara de Michele at 425-391-0592 or issaquahcommunitynetwork@mindspring.com.

Grant requests from $100 to $2,000 are most appropriate.

In the past, Issaquah Community Network grants have funded Beaver Lake Middle School’s week of prevention and intervention education activities to reduce youth substance and alcohol abuse, and the Pacific Cascade Middle School’s “LifeSkills” training program.
