A senior stalwart on the hardwood

Issaquah Eagles senior Ty Gibson led his team to a fourth place finish at the Class 4A boys basketball state tournament

In the final contests of his high school basketball career Issaquah Eagles senior Ty Gibson rose to the occasion.

Gibson, who scored a total of 87 points in three games, propelled the Eagles to a fourth place finish at the Class 4A state tournament at the Tacoma Dome.

Gibson’s 87 points broke the previous tournament scoring record of 81 points. The Eagles suffered a 63-55 loss to the Union Titans in the quarterfinals but defeated Moses Lake 74-61 and Kentwood 61-51 in the fourth place/sixth place game on March 7. Issaquah Eagles head coach Jason Griffith announced on his Twitter account on March 16 that Gibson committed to play college basketball for Eastern Washington University in Cheney.

“He has represented his community, school, family and program with class,” Griffith said via a Twitter post.
