Four seniors from two different schools will represent the Plateau this weekend at the All-State Baseball Game this weekend at Parker Field in Yakima.
Eastside Catholic will send two players to the annual senior game in Matt Boyd and Mike Bush. The pair will play on Team Adams. Boyd, the state coaches association’s MVP and an Oregon State recruit, hit .446 with four home runs and 27 RBI. The left-hander had a 6-2 record on the mound with a 1.71 ERA and 71 strikeouts.
Bush, who will play at Bellevue College, hit .492 with 6 home runs, 26 RBI and six stolen bases.
Eastlake will also send two players, in Nick Andrews and Nick Smith. The pair will play as members of Team St. Helens.
Andrews, who will play for South Dakota State University next year, hit .426 with two home runs and 18 RBI. Smith, who will play for Seattle University, hit .470 with two home runs and 12 RBI.
The All-State event pits Team Adams against Team Baker at noon, Saturday and Team St. Helens against Team Rainier at 3:15 p.m., Saturday. The winners square off at 1:35 p.m., Sunday for the championship. The losers play a consolation game at 10:25 a.m.
