We’ve been hunting for that perfect image — a photograph of Lake Sammamish, a sketch of the kokanee or a painted paraglider floating down from Poo-Poo Point — but we haven’t found it.

So we’re asking for your help. After all, it’s your community; who knows it better than you?

Starting on Earth Day, April 22, we will be taking submissions for the image that will go on the masthead of our front page, behind the Reporter lettering.

Here’s how it works:

• Find or create an image: Entries can be panoramic photographs, paintings or sketches — whatever you believe best represents the Sammamish plateau and Issaquah communities. Submissions should be horizontally favored. Our current photo’s dimension are roughly 5 to 1.

• Share your entry with us on social media: Post it to our Facebook page at facebook.com/IssaquahReporter/ or tag us on Twitter @IssReporter with the hashtag #WeAreTheReporter.

• Send submissions via email: Our email address is news@issaquahreporter.com. Be sure to use the subject line #WeAreTheReporter. Be forewarned — we’ll post all email submissions online for our communities to see.

• We’re accepting submissions for one month: April 22-May 20.

After combing through what we know will be amazing art, we’ll narrow down our search for the perfect picture May 27. We’ll show off the finalists in print and online. We’re asking the community to weigh in before picking the final piece, which will print for the first time June 3. Finalists will be sent specific instructions on how to submit higher resolution images for print.

We know this area is full of talented artists — we’ve reported on dozens of them. So show off your skills and help define your community in your newspaper.
