Would you like some free wood chips for your garden?

Then swing by East Sammamish Park or the Beaver Lake Park ball fields on Sunday, Jan. 10, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The Boy Scout troops of Sammamish will be recycling the Christmas trees they will have collected during their annual drive.

“There’s going to be a grinder at both of those locations,” said Sammamish Volunteer Coordinator Dawn Sanders. “Instead of just throwing the chips away, we thought we would make them available to our residents. We’ll have work crews there to help people load up.”

If all the chips are taken early, the operation may close down before 4 p.m., so people are advised not to wait until the last minute.
