Tastin’ n Racin’ is celebrating its 13th anniversary starting today, June 5 on Lake Sammamish State Park.
The event begins with a free kick-off party, “Hydro Happy Hour,” in the beer garden from 4-8 p.m., today. There will be free parking all weekend long.
The popular personal watercraft racing (jet-skis, WaveRunners, SeaDoos, etc.) starts at 3 p.m., Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Lots of kids activities are on hand, including pony rides, a rock wall, inflatable rides, and a huge beach.
Sterling Bank is hosting the Car Toys Aftershock stage, which will feature a variety of rock and roll bands. There will also be two beer gardens, and lots of food and arts and crafts vendors.
Motorcycles for Max Pledge Ride will return this year, culminating in a Hot Bike and Boat and Speed show on Saturday.
More than 100 of top jet ski racers from around the Northwest will compete all three days for the KZOK Cup — an I-90 Motorsports Regional World Championship qualifier. KZOK Radio 102.5 FM will be broadcasting live from the event.
Another attractive draw, the unlimited hydroplane exhibition, takes place Saturday. The U-17 and the U-48 state of the art, turbine powered unlimited hydroplanes will make a couple runs each day along with those loud-and-proud favorites from yesteryear, The Bardahl and the Miss Thriftway.
Daily events run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. General admission is $10; $5 for juniors (6-16) and seniors (65 and older) are free. Children 5 and under are also admitted free.
Proceeds from the event benefit H.I.D.R.O.S.Inc., Issaquah D.A.R.E., and Issaquah Explorers.
