The Spartans trailed the Beavers 44-36 after three quarters, before rallying to tie the game 54-54 at the end of regulation.

Will Parker and Bryan Cikatz scored 21 points apiece while Max Browne and Teran Togia had eight apiece.

Ballard’s Salim Gloyd led all scorers with 29 points.

Skyline improved to 3-1 in league and 6-3 overall with the victory. The Spartans host rival Issaquah next at 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7.

Top-ranked Garfield takes down Issaquah

Garfield defended its top ranking Tuesday night, downing Issaquah 89-55 in Seattle.

The Bulldogs outscored the Eagles in every quarter, carrying a 42-27 lead at halftime and 72-44 lead after three quarters.

Nick Price led Issaquah with 22 points. Steven Rael added eight for the Eagles. University of Washington-bound Tony Wroten led all scorers with 29 points.

Eastside Catholic stumbles down stretch

Eastside Catholic led Nathan Hale at halftime, but couldn’t hang on Tuesday night, falling 48-38 in Seattle.

The Crusaders carried a slim 15-14 halftime advantage. The Raiders nearly tripled their offensive output in the second half, behind three players in double-figures. Gadisa Margarsa Hale with 15 points.

Eastside only had four players in the scorebook, led by Joey Schreiber’s 19 points. Matt Callans added 12. The Crusaders fell to 2-5 in league and 3-7 overall. They travel to top-ranked Rainier Beach next at 6:15 p.m., Friday, Jan. 7.

Eastside Catholic pins Lakeside

Eastside Catholic tallied three pins en route to a 39-24 victory over Lakeside Tuesday in Seattle.

Jake Warfield (130), Anothony Roy (152) and Joe Stoutt (215) all recorded pins for the Crusaders.

Matt Beggs earned an 11-10 decision at 119 pounds, Drew Beggs won an 11-8 decision at 140 pounds and Jon Obernesser won a 9-8 decision at 145 pounds.
