KingCo 4A softball | Issaquah fastpitch fights today to keep season alive

The Issaquah fastpitch softball team will try to keep its 4A state tournament hopes alive at 3 p.m., today, May 22, against Lake Washington at Redmond's Hartman Park. The Eagles lost to the Kangs, 3-2, in the second round of the KingCo 4A tournament on Wednesday.

The Issaquah fastpitch softball team will try to keep its 4A state tournament hopes alive at 3 p.m., today, May 22, against Lake Washington at Redmond’s Hartman Park. The Eagles lost to the Kangs, 3-2, in the second round of the KingCo 4A tournament on Wednesday. Issaquah fought through the losers’ bracket Thursday, beating Eastlake, 4-0, and Inglemoor, 2-0.

Today’s game is a loser-out contest. The winner advances to a 5 p.m. game against Woodinville. The winner of that game plays a 7 p.m. winner-to-state game against Bothell. The loser of the 5 p.m. game will travel to the face the Greater St. Helen’s League No. 1 team in Vancouver on Saturday to play a winner-to-state game.

Mikenzie Voves pitched a combined 14 innings on Thursday, striking out a combined 18 batters. She allowed no runs in either game and a combined four hits.

Eastlake eliminated

Defending 4A state champion Eastlake was eliminated from the KingCo 4A tournament Thursday afternoon, falling 4-0 to Issaquah. The Wolves lost their opening round game Tuesday, falling 2-1 to Inglemoor. Eastlake battled back Wednesday with a 7-2 victory over Plateau rival Skyline. Katie Brinton, Morgan Conover, Alexis Esser and Serena Norris all had RBI hits for the Wolves. Eastlake ended its season with a 9-12 record.

Skyline goes two and out

Skyline was eliminated in two games at the KingCo 4A tournament, falling 10-3 to Bothell on Tuesday and 7-2 to Eastlake on Wednesday. The Spartans took a 1-0 lead during Tuesday’s game, but surrendered seven runs over the next two innings. Skyline led 1-0 on Wednesday before a four-run fifth inning did them in. The Spartans ended their season with a 7-15 record.
