It was a busy Wednesday morning on Interstate 90.
First pigs were reportedly in the median near mile post 32, and then a collision at Issaquah’s Front Street exit clogged traffic and led to a car jacking at gunpoint near the Issaquah Starbucks on East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast.
Washington State Patrol got the call about the Front Street I-90 ramp collision where a light blue minivan hit a dump truck and guardrail around 8:30 a.m.
About 15 minutes before, Trooper Rick Johnson said, King County Sheriff’s Office had stopped the minivan near Fall City. After a few minutes, the van, carrying two individuals, sped off. Shortly thereafter, the van hit another vehicle on westbound I-90 in Preston.
The speeding minivan took the Front Street exit and attempted to pass a dump truck on the shoulder. It hit the guardrail and the truck, which disabled the minivan.
The driver and passenger got out of the van and ran off.
The driver, who was reportedly armed, stole a red 2001 Subaru Legacy near the Issaquah Starbucks.
“No one was injured in all of this,” Johnson said.
Washington State Patrol is searching for the driver and the passenger. The light blue minivan was transported to evidence.
The Front Street off-ramp was temporarily closed after the incident for clean-up and repairs. The off-ramp has since reopened.
