The Sammamish City Council approved the Issaquah/Sammamish Reporter — in partnership with Sammamish Friends and Plateaupians for Peace — to host a Sammamish Council Candidate Forum from 6-8:30 p.m. Sept. 25 in the City Hall Council Chambers.
The city requested proposals to organize and moderate the candidate forum on Sept. 5 and received two responses, one from the Reporter and a joint proposal from Sammamish Friends and Plateaupians for Peace. Representatives from the three groups decided to join forces and co-host the event, which the council approved on Tuesday.
The Reporter has invited all eight City Council candidates in November’s general election, including those for Position 1 – Jason Ritchie and Mark Baughman, Position 3 – Karen Moran and Karen Howe, Position 5 – Chris Ross and Rituja Indapure and Position 7 – Pam Stuart and John Robinson.
The forum will be in a question-answer format.
The public may submit their suggested questions to news@issaquahreporter.com until 5 p.m. Sept. 18. In addition, the audience will have an opportunity to submit questions prior to the start of the forum at 6 p.m.
Margaret Rottsolk, a Microsoft principal alumni and experienced facilitator, will moderate the event. Representatives from Sammamish Friends, Plateaupians for Peace and the Reporter will also be on hand to help facilitate the event.
The city of Sammamish plans to record the meeting, but it will not be streamed live. It could take up to five days before the video is processed for the city’s YouTube account.
In addition, Plateaupians for Peace will live stream the event.
The Reporter also previously hosted a candidate forum for the primary election.
