Eastside Baby Corner raised $312,552 to support the material needs of children at its annual luncheon.

The Helping Kids Thrive Luncheon took place at the Meydenbauer Center Nov. 6. It was the sixth year Eastside Baby Corner has held the fundraiser.

The Issaquah-based nonprofit supports the material requirements of children that come from families in need. They provide fundamentals like diapers, formula, car seats and clothes, as well as items like toys, books and bikes.

For example, in 2014, Eastside Baby Corner provided nearly 800,000 diapers and 8,118 “Big Bundles” — packages containing a week’s worth of clothing and books.

“When children are hungry, or they’re cold, or they do not have a bed to sleep in, they fail to succeed,” director Renee Zimmerman said in a recent video (posted above) produced by the organization.

The Reporter recently had the opportunity to tour Eastside Baby Corner’s facility during a publicity stop for GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Bryant on one of the nonprofit’s intake days for donations. As can be seen briefly in the video, the warehouse is a hive of volunteer activity as items are inspected, packaged and prepared.
