Update: As of 5 p.m., four Sammamish residents are without power near Northeast Sixth Court, according to Puget Sound Energy’s outage map. The estimated restoration time is 9:30 p.m. All other power issues in Sammamish are resolved. There are eight Issaquah residents near Southeast 266th Avenue without power. The estimated restoration time is 6 p.m.
About 1,500 Puget Sound Energy customers lost power early Thursday morning in Sammamish, according to PSE.
As of 11:30 a.m., that was reduced to nearly 490 customers, according to the company’s outage map.
A tree took out “multiple spans of wire” near Northeast Eighth Street and 244th Avenue Northeast resulting in the loss of power at 1:22 a.m., PSE spokesperson Akiko Oda said in an email.
“Crews were able to isolate the problem and restore about 1,000 customers around 5 a.m.,” she wrote.
The estimated restoration time for the remaining 485 affected was 11:40 a.m.
PSE’s outage map was still showing the outages as of 11:46 a.m., as well as another near Southeast 17th Place in Sammamish impacting seven more people. That has an estimated restoration time of 1 p.m.
There are other scattered outages around the area, including more than 70 in southeast Issaquah near Issaquah-Hobart Road Southeast, according to PSE’s outage map.
Eleven Issaquah customers at the corner of 164th Street and Southeast 258th Avenue lost power around 3:40 a.m with an estimated restoration time of 1:30 p.m. Shortly before 6 a.m., about 60 others were without power near Southeast 162nd Place, Southeast 266th Avenue and Southeast 160th Street. PSE’s estimated restoration time is 1 p.m.
A tree in the line caused the Issaquah outages Oda said.
King County is currently on a high wind alert from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Winds are expected to increase from 25 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour throughout the day. Gusts could reach 60 miles per hour, the weather service reports.
The high wind warning includes other areas in King County.
