Parkadilly at Lake Sammamish set for July 22

The event will offer a wide variety of activities and entertainment.

Parkadilly at Lake Sammamish kid’s concert, fair & fun will introduce children and their grown-ups to a wide variety of outdoor activities and live music on July 22.

Parkadilly is a Seafair sanctioned community event.

Parkadilly is coming to Lake Sammamish State Park, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with activities including a petting zoo, children’s story times, community recycled art sculpturing and more. Blitz, the Seahawks’ mascot, will be a guest visitor, along with Sponge Bob, Woody from Toy Story, and Wonder Woman.

Kids will be able to earn their Junior Ranger badge after exploring the wild and wonderful world of nature. An afternoon workshop will teach kids and adults about wilderness survival. There will be a trampoline for jumping. Macaws from Cougar Mountain Zoo will be on hand.

Ben & Jerry’s will sell ice cream cones and assorted food trucks will have lunch options, from paninis to fish tacos.

But the main attraction will be on the center stage with guest host Steve Bunin from King 5 as emcee. The audience can learn a few new dance moves and songs, taught by the best of the northwest’s children’s entertainers:

  • 11:15 a.m. Ganzango African Dance
  • 12:15 p.m. The Not-Its
  • 1:15 p.m. Recess Monkey
  • 2:15 p.m. Rhythms of India Bollywood dancers

Returning this year will be a Community Recycled Art Project, inviting everyone to help build a salmon sculpture using tin cans and other recycled materials. Artist Gabi Phillips hopes to convey the importance of the recycling motto “Reduce – Reuse – Recycle” and encourage sustainability.

Nearly 40 kid-centric vendors will also be on hand, giving parents an opportunity to learn about schools, after-school activities, health care, children’s products, and local non-profits of interest to families.

The fair is a free event, although park admission requires an annual Discover Pass or $10 per carload daily fee.

Sponsors of Parkadilly include Virginia Mason Issaquah, Bright Horizons, Grange Supply, Issaquah Arts Commission, Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites, Kiwanis Club of Issaquah and many other local businesses.
