Police arrest porch pirates, redeliver stolen gifts

The two suspects were stealing boxes from Issaquah Highlands residents when a local called 911.

Issaquah police caught and arrested two porch pirates on Dec. 21 with help from the city’s 911 dispatcher and a “quick-thinking” citizen.

The unnamed citizen spotted a suspicious woman wandering the Issaquah Highlands neighborhood and decided to call 911 and report the activity. The woman, who was also caught on security footage, was traveling on foot and in a truck with a driver when police responded to the in-progress call.

Police then located the two suspects and subsequently arrested them, impounding the stolen truck and discovering numerous stolen boxes. The city of Issaquah reported the arrests late last week, thanking the community for support and reminding locals to call in if they see something suspicious.

“This is a great reminder to our community – if you see something suspicious, please call Issaquah police!” The city wrote in a press release. “Thank you, team, for serving as Santa’s backup.”

Officers personally redelivered the stolen boxes to Highlands residents.
