Steady progression has been a staple of Issaquah Eagles senior 152-pound wrestler Kamil Solowiej’s wrestling career.
Solowiej earned first place for the first time of his high school career at the 4A KingCo wrestling tournament in the 152-pound weight division on Feb. 2 at North Creek High School. Solowiej pinned Skyline’s Jacob Inton in the second round.
“This is my first KingCo title. I got second place last year and third (place) the year before that. It is an amazing feeling. It just feels great just to know that you are always getting better,” Solowiej said.
Solowiej had never wrestled Inton prior to the matchup in the finals.
“He had a lot of upper body strength so I was trying to stay low and not get thrown. I didn’t want to give him any big moves and I just kept the pace going,” Solowiej said.
