Congressional representatives Adam Smith of the 9th district and Kim Schrier of the 8th district, visited the 41st Legislative District Democrats meeting on Feb. 20, at the King County Library Service Center in Issaquah to speak about their current work and answer questions.
Smith discussed the plan for democrats in the House during the next six months. He said they need to push a progressive plan for climate change, health care, infrastructure and an number of other issues to how what it Democrat leadership would look like and how the country should act regarding critical issues.
“We have a great opportunity to make a difference going forward,” He said.
Schrier echoed Smith’s points and cited HR1, which aims to end partisan gerrymandering and restoring voting rights among many other points, as an example of displaying Democrat values.
Schrier also asked the audience to stay united in the upcoming presidential election when it comes to the support of Democratic candidates for president. Pick your favorite and support them, but come together as a whole when one is finally chosen to represent the party, she said.
