The Washington State Parks Folk and Traditional Arts Program is hosting a Holi Celebration — the Festival of Colors — on Saturday, March 23, at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah. The celebration will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The free annual event will take place at the park’s kitchen shelter and will include a Bollywood DJ, traditional music and dance, and family-friendly activities sponsored by the Urban Wildlife Refuge Partners. Colorful, environmentally friendly paint powder, and vegetarian Indian food will be available for purchase.

Holi, an ancient Hindu spring festival, is also known as the Festival of Colors or the Festival of Love. Each year, in India and elsewhere, Holi is celebrated with joy. Festivities often involve people splashing or powdering their own or their companions’ skin and clothing with vibrant dyes.

A Discover Pass is required for those attending the festival by vehicle. Lake Sammamish State Park is located at 2000 NW Sammamish Road in Issaquah.
