Police are still hoping to catch up with the owner of the 2008 Cadillac Escalade that was abandoned at the Shell service station near the Pine Lake Shopping Center on 228th Avenue after allegedly being driven over a nearby median strip.

A little before 11 p.m. on Friday night, Feb. 12, a Shell employee called Sammamish Police stating “that a DUI driver had just ran into several trees and then pulled into his parking lot and left their vehicle,” according to the police report.

Police arrived at the scene and waited for the driver to return to his vehicle, but he didn’t. The officers noted that there were sticks and branches caught underneath the truck.

Then they went to the nearby home of the registered owner, where they were greeted by a woman who told them the owner wasn’t at home. On their way from the Shell station, the officers “noticed several sizable branches and half a tree littered about the SE 2400 block of 228th Avenue SE.”

According to the police report “it was apparent that the vehicle had travelled up onto the median with all four tires, popping three, and run over several trees and brushes before returning to the south bound lane.”

As of Tuesday this week, police had still not made contact with the owner of the vehicle. They are hoping that footage from the Shell security cameras will give them a clear idea of what happened.
