The SAMMI Awards Foundation Board of Directors announced today that this year’s community event, March 16, will be dedicated to the memory of Stan Chapin.
Officer Chapin, a 2003 Youth Advocate Awardee, passed away unexpectedly in January. He served the Sammamish Community for over 12 years, primarily as the resource officer for Eastlake High School and Inglewood Junior High.
The effect of his sudden passing on the students and parents in Sammamish has been profound.
“As a previous awardee we felt it was important to again recognize the incredibly positive impact he has had on our community and honor him for living our mission: ‘Celebrating and Promoting Community Involvement,'” said board member Kathy Anderson. “Additionally, the Youth Advocate Award will be given out in his memory this year. We are very honored that the Chapin Family will be in attendance for this year’s ceremony as we celebrate Stan’s memory and all of the inspiring members of our community.”
The SAMMI award ceremony takes place at 7 p.m., Friday, March 16 at Eastridge Church.
