With the shortest day of the year fast approaching Puget Sound Energy is offering residential electric customers instant discounts on a variety of light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. Long lasting, efficient LED bulbs can be purchased at participating retail stores for less than $3 with PSE discounts.
In addition to the limited time LED bulb instant discounts the first 50 Black Friday shoppers in line at the Issaquah Best Buy store at 6000 E. Lake Sammamish Pkwy. SE and Issaquah Fred Meyer store at 6100 E. Lake Sammamish Pkwy. SE on Nov. 23 will receive a free 40W equivalent LED bulb.
LED bulbs use up to 80 percent less energy while producing the same quality and brightness of light that customers are used to getting from old incandescent bulbs. ENERGY STAR-qualified LED bulbs also have an average life span of up to 25,000 hours or up to 25 years, compared to incandescent bulbs which can last up to 1,000 hours.
Most LED bulbs are dimmable, making them a usable for kitchen and dining room lights. The average household can save $150 a year in energy costs by replacing the 25 most frequently used lights in the home with LED bulbs.
