State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Cedar Hills Fire located in King County near Issaquah.

The Cedar Hills Fire is burning in timber and grass. Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources at 4:30 p.m. June 28 at the request of Fire Chief Jeff Clark from Eastside Fire and Rescue.

The Cedar Hills Fire started at about 1:06 p.m. June 28. This fire is estimated at 25 acres and growing. It is threatening homes, power lines and timber. No evacuations are in effect as of press time.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Mobilization specialists from the Fire Protection Bureau have ordered one strike team and air resources.

The State Emergency Operations Center at Camp Murray will remain active in the efforts to help coordinate state assistance for the Cedar Hills Fire. State Fire Marshal’s Office personnel are en route to the scene and working remotely to coordinate the dispatch of resources.

Under the State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan, the Fire Protection Bureau coordinates the initial dispatch and continued administrative oversight of resources and personnel for the duration of the mobilization.

The mobilization plan is implemented to provide a process to quickly notify, assemble and deploy fire service personnel, equipment and other resources from around the state when fires, disasters or other events exceed the capacity of local jurisdictions.
