Front Street in Issaquah will be transformed into an avenue of live outdoor performances on every second Saturday of the month until September as the city celebrates its annual Artwalk & Music Stroll. Dozens of local artists will be celebrated throughout the season, and includes Issaquah native Bryce Van Parys, who will be performing with various groups at the Shell Station main stage.

Van Parys first debuted his first solo act in downtown Issaquah back in 2021. He grew up surrounded by music; the first instrument he learned was piano, and by 11 years of age he mastered the saxophone. From there on, Van Parys picked up the guitar and bass, and then the string bass.

Van Parys grew up in the Issaquah School District and graduated from Liberty High School in 1993. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Central Washington University, and went on to perform with the Tacoma Symphony and the Bellevue Philharmonic.

As a well versed country, rock, jazz, blues, and classical musician, Van Parys has shared the stage with artists such as Ben E. King, Ray Charles, Yes, and Heart, among others. Currently, Van Parys serves as the general manager and vice president of Hammond Ashley Violins.

On August 13 from 5-8 p.m., Van Parys will be performing rock and grunge tunes with his rock band, The Murder Hornets. On the Artwalk & Music stroll that will take place on September 10, Van Parys will play a pedal steel guitar with Buckboard Junction.
