As a record number of salmon journey back to Issaquah, the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce welcomes them home with their 54th annual Salmon Days event.

The event, held on Oct. 7 and Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., will open with a parade starting on South Rainier Boulevard and ending where North Front Street and Creek Place intersect.

The main attraction — the salmon — is viewable in a few locations. The Issaquah Salmon Hatchery is the most common, located at 125 W. Sunset Way. However, there are multiple locations to catch a glimpse of the salmon’s homecoming: West Sunset Way Bridge, Dogwood Bridge, Confluence Park and Newport Bridge.

The main roads will be filled with activities, food, spirits, music and vendors.

The plethora of vendors will be predominately on Sunset Way and North Front Street. There will be food, nonprofit groups, commercial retail and over 200 on-site artist vendors — along with two beer and wine gardens, according to the Salmon Days website.

Veterans’ Memorial Field will have family-oriented activities, including robot demonstrations, inflatable slides and arts and crafts.

There will be the Dock Dog competition, where dogs jump off a long dock into the water, and they will be judged in different categories. There will be contests from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The community center is hosting one of the live music stages. This stage will have performances from four bands each day from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Streaming Live stage, across from the senior center, will have live rock music by the School of Rock students and instructors from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
