An Issaquah police task force is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred between two exes around 10:25 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17.

According to police, the ex-boyfriend broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in Issaquah. The woman shot the male suspect, killing him in what the police classified as a “domestic violence incident.”

The incident is currently under investigation. More information will be reported when available.

Update as of Nov. 20:

On Nov. 17, the woman was taken into custody, questioned and released the same day, according to Issaquah Police Chief Paula Schwan.

Schwan said in an email the police believe the 31-year-old male suspect was attempting to assault the woman at the time of the shooting.

“Upon further investigation, detectives do not believe the suspect was attempting to force entry into the victim’s residence,” Schwan noted.
