The Issaquah City Council will hold a public hearing at its regular meeting of Monday, Oct. 5, to consider opposing Tim Eyman’s Initiative 1033.

If passed by voters in November, initiative I-1033 would limit growth of certain state, county and city revenue to annual inflation and population growth.

City officials and budget managers on the Eastside are concerned that restricting revenue to current recession levels will erode the provision of services in times of growth.

Proponents of the initiative say that it will ensure city governments are more fiscally responsible.

At the meeting, members of the legislative body and members of the public will be afforded an approximately equal opportunity to express support or opposition for I-1033.

The council meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m., and will be held in the Council Chambers located at 135 East Sunset Way.
