Bunnell is only in his sixth year as the IHS head coach. He has coached 97 regular season games over his tenure and his overall record, counting playoffs, is 100-11-6.

He has led Issaquah to three state titles (2004, 2006, 2007) and finished as a runner up in 2005.

“It’s awesome,” Bunnell said. “In the time that it happened, I’m really proud of the accomplishment.”

The Eagles finished the regular season atop the KingCo 4A with a 10-1 league and 13-2 overall record.

Abby Glasgow and Kristen Maris helped Issaquah jump out to a quick start Tuesday, scoring goals in the 11th and 17th minutes, respectively. Dayna Talley tacked on a score in the 71st minute and Maris, who leads KingCo in goals with 14, punched in another score in the 74th minute. Goalkeeper Brooke Miller recorded the shutout.

Issaquah hosts Skyline at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday for the KingCo 4A championship. The winner clinches an automatic state tournament berth. The loser will host the No. 2 team from the Greater St. Helen’s League at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7 for a winner-to-state, loser-out game.

Skyline blanks Newport in finale

Skyline earned a 1-0 victory over Newport Tuesday night in its season finale, locking up the No. 2 spot in the KingCo 4A.

Coral Anderson scored the Spartans lone goal in the 52nd minute on an assist from Maddie Christ. Goalkeepers Jill Stika and Christina Vargas combined for the shutout as Skyline improved to 9-2 in league and 13-3 overall. The Spartans face Issaquah at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3 for the KingCo 4A title.

Eastlake locks up third seed

Eastlake blanked rival Redmond 4-0 on Tuesday night, behind three second-half goals.

Lindsay Elston provided the Wolves a 1-0 lead headed into halftime with a score in the 28th minute. Emily Cushing, Candice Osei-Agyemang and Elston sealed the deal in the second half, scoring three goals in a span of 9 minutes. Goalkeepers Kate Zopolos and Bryce Kennedy combined for a shutout. Eastlake improved to 9-2 in league and 11-4-1 overall. The Wolves host Roosevelt in a district loser-out game at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 31. The winner of that game faces the winner of Woodinville-Redmond to get into the bi-district tournament.
