I applaud Leadership Eastside CEO James Whitfield, noting that we all need a seat at the table regarding the fate of the Eastside.  For many of us though, we’ve been at the table numerous times, provided our input through public process with the same result: citizen input is ignored.

When the table is not controlled by developers, businesses or local governments that advocate for “customers” over “citizens,” we might achieve dialogue on how to preserve the dynamic culture we have and grow in a way that is inclusive of the diversity and people that will be living here long after developers, businesses and part-time leaders move on to their next conquest.
