For the first time since 1996, the Eagles beat Eastlake in a dual meet, earning 47 team points.

Redmond (31) won the meet on its home course at Hartman Park, while Eastlake (50) was third and Newport (106) was fourth.

Issaquah, which ended the regular season 8-1, was led by freshman Ellie Clawson’s fourth-place finish in in a time of 19 minutes, 38 seconds.

Rachel Osgood and Ellie Hendrickson finished eighth and 10th, respectively.

Eastlake sophomore Anastasia Kosykh won the meet in 18:53. Wolves’ teammates Nicole Stinnett and Morgan O’Connor finished fifth and seventh, respectively.

The Eastlake boys finished second on Wednesday with 45 team points, placing behind Redmond (27) and ahead of Newport (61) and Issaquah (101).

Senior Mark Milloy placed fourth in a time of 16:56. Teammates Michael Flindt and Connor Dorsey were fifth and eighth, respectively.

Redmond’s Jonathan Stevens finished first overall in 16:23, while Issaquha’s Tom Howe finished a team-best 12th for the Eagles in 17:26.

VOLLEYBALL

Eastside Catholic volleyball captures Metro’s top seed

Eastside Catholic earned a bit of redemption Wednesday night, downing rival Seattle Prep in five games: 25-22, 25-16, 18-25, 25-27, 15-10.

The Crusaders, who locked up the Metro Mountain title, lost to the Panthers in their last two meetings, including the 2010 state title match and a regular-season contest earlier this season.

Senior Kameron Mclain led Eastside in Wednesday’s road match, earning 33 kills and 11 digs.

Hannah Christie served up 40 assists, while Marlena Norwood led the Crusaders with 25 digs. Mandy Mahan added nine kills and six blocks.

Eastside ended the regular season 11-1 in league and 13-1 overall. The Crusaders open the Metro tournament on Oct. 27. The first-place finish seeds them in the semifinals.

TENNIS

Skyline sweeps Ballard in seven matches

Skyline won all its matches in two sets Wednesday afternoon, beating Ballard 7-0.

No. 1 singles player Aman Manji cruised to a victory over Kensa Kawamura, 6-0, 6-0.

The No. 1 doubles team of Brayden Hansen and Alex Wu were also dominant, beating Alec Barrett and Wilson Dane, 6-2, 6-3.

Eastlake edges Garfield

Eastlake claimed three singles matches and one doubles match Wednesday to defeat Garfield, 4-3.

No. 1 player Vicente Varas remained undefeated, beating Diego Alcaron, 6-3, 6-3.

Mitch Loofburrow and Andrew Garland also earned singles wins, while the doubles team of Fez Ulargui and Chris Lockwood were also victorious.
