Issaquah bounced back from a rough holiday tournament on Wednesday, beating Garfield 64-57 at IHS.

The Eagles, who had the last two weeks off after going 1-3 at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Arizona, had three players in double figure points.

Idaho State-bound guard Blaire Brady led Issaquah with a game-high 20 points. Maddey Pflaumer added 19 and Sabrina Norton had 14.

The Eagles improved to 3-0 in league and 5-3 overall. They have two more big games this week — going to Skyline on Friday and hosting Eastlake on Saturday. Tip offs are set for 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.

Skyline bumps win streak to five

Skyline cruised to its fifth consecutive victory Wednesday night, beating Ballard 48-33 in Sammamish.

Ten Spartans worked their way into the scorebook led by Megan Weideman and Haley Smith, who scored 11 apiece.

Skyline, which led 23-17 at halftime, outscored the Beavers 11-0 in the third quarter to pull away for good.

The Spartans improved to 3-2 in league and 9-3 overall. They host rival Issaquah at 6:30 p.m., Friday.

Eastlake suffers first loss of season

The Eastlake girls suffered their first loss of the season Wednesday night, falling 65-53 to Woodinville.

The Wolves, who started the season 9-0, stumbled out of the gates against the Falcons. Woodinville came out firing, taking a 19-13 lead after one quarter and a 36-22 halftime advantage.

Melissa Gilkey led the Falcons with a game-high 29 points. Junior guard Bella Zennan led Eastlake with a season-high 15 points. Caleigh McCabe added 14 for the Wolves.

Eastlake (4-1, 9-1) has another big test 7 p.m., Saturday at Issaquah.

EC girls break three-game skid

Eastside Catholic broke a three-game losing streak Wednesday with a 53-38 victory over Nathan Hale.

The Crusaders used a 21-8 run in the third quarter to pull away for the victory.

Michaela O’Rourke paved the way for Eastside Catholic, scoring a game-high 21 points. Colleen Nuss added eight.

The Crusaders improved to 2-5 in league and 2-8 overall.

Issaquah grapplers edged by Woodinville

Woodinville edged Issaquah in a battle of pins Wednesday night, earning a 42-36 team victory.

The Falcons and Eagles earned five pins apiece, but a technical fall, major decision and decision lifted Woodinville to the victory.

Issaquah dominated the lower weights, earning first-round pins from Charles Tilton (112), Jerdon Helgeson (130), Almen Thorpe (140), David White (145) and a second-round pin from Cody Duke (152). Louden Ivey also earned a forfeit victory at 103 pounds.
