Issaquah pounced on Skyline early Wednesday afternoon, scoring five runs in the first inning and holding on for a 6-2 win.
The Eagles were sparked in the inning by a two-run base hit from Ben Rosellini. Mike Paulson, who pitched a complete seven innings, was also 2-for-3 with a run scored. Paulson allowed five hits, two earned runs, four walks and had six strikeouts.
Skyline scored its runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Sean Penberthy was 2-for-2 with a run scored, Peyton Harrod was 1-for-1 with a run and and Jim Sinatro had an RBI.
Issaquah improved to 11-3 in league and 15-3 overall. The Eagles are currently alone atop the KingCo Crest with Redmond (9-4) and Newport (8-4) on their heels. Issaquah closes the regular season out with a road game Friday at Newport and a home game next Tuesday against Redmond.
Skyline is now 7-7 in league and 9-8 overall. The Spartans, who close the regular season out against Redmond and Garfield, have the No. 4 playoff seed locked up and are still alive for the No. 3 seed.
The KingCo 4A playoffs begin Saturday, May 8 at Woodinville High School.
Seattle Prep hammers Eastside Catholic with four home runs
Eastside Catholic took a quick lead over Seattle Prep Wednesday afternoon, but the Panther bats countered in a big way for a 13-3 victory.
The Crusaders led 2-0 after the first inning, but Prep erupted for eight runs in the bottom half of the inning and never looked back.
The Panthers belted four home runs over the fence, including a grand slam from Nick Pribble. Sawyer Coleman, Jamie Hall and Nelson Taylor added home runs.
Garrett DeGallier and Jake Gober recorded doubles for Eastside, which dropped to 9-3 in league and 10-4 overall.

Eastlake retakes top spot in Crest
Eastlake started quickly and held on for a 3-1 victory over Roosevelt Wednesday afternoon to retake the lead in the KingCo Crest.
Nicole Guptil pitched a complete game for the Wolves, allowing only one earned run with six strikeouts. She was also 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Sammi Stavig was 2-for-4 with a double and Mercedes Bass was 1-for-2.
Eastlake improved to 6-3 in league and 9-4 overall.
Issaquah falls to Inglemoor
Inglemoor jumped on the board first and held on to a 4-1 victory over Issaquah Wednesday night in Kenmore.
Christian McKone went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Eagles, including a home run in the top of the fifth. Chelsea Peart also added a double.
Issaquah fell to 4-6 in league and 6-7 overall with the loss.
LACROSSE
Issaquah drops Eastlake for fifth straight win
Kevin Powers and Even Greenhall each contributed three goals Wednesday as Issaquah won its fifth straight to inch closer to the Northeast Conference lead with a 11–3 Division I win over Eastlake. The Eagles improved to 13-3 — just a game behind Mercer Island and Bellevue.
Tanner Clinch, Patrick Keogh and Cooper Rosenthal all scored for Eastlake, which slipped to 4-6-0.
Northshore rolls past Eastside Catholic
Alex Bus scored six goals Wednesday to lead Northshore to a 20–7 Boys Division I win over Eastside Catholic at Bothell High School. Kyle Decker led all Eastside Catholic scorers with three goals and an assist and goalie Brandon Veyette had 16 saves as the Crusaders dropped to 3-10-0.
