DANGEROUS DRIVER

A 22-year-old Renton man was arrested for DUI on Jan. 24 after Sammamish police witnessed him going 68 mph in a 35 mph zone on Issaquah-Pine Lake Road.

The reporting officer said it’s the fastest he’s ever seen on the road in four years of working the area.

The man immediately asked for a “detective” when he was pulled over, telling the officer that “he wasn’t supposed to do the tests.” He was tested anyway, and recorded a reading of .183 on the breathalyzer  — more than two times the legal limit.

She later informed medics that the 30-year-old man woke up suddenly and began running around their apartment complex before passing out in front of one the buildings.

She told police that he, along with four others, finished off at least three fifths of hard alcohol. She wasn’t sure if the man had consumed any other substances.

CAUGHT IN ACT

Four teenagers were caught Jan. 26 smoking marijuana in a vehicle in a north Sammamish apartment complex parking lot.

Police were doing a regular check of the area when they stumbled upon a vehicle with steamed windows. Two boys aged 17 and 18 and two girls, aged 17, were found in the vehicle which contained a strong odor of fresh burned cannabis.

The teens first denied using the drug before turning over two pill bottles over to police. One bottle contained .5 grams of marijuana and the other contained 3.1 grams of the substance, along with three condoms, a lighter and rolling papers.

MISSING LAPTOP

An Eastlake High School sophomore called police Jan. 22 to report someone stole his school-assigned laptop computer the previous week.

The student said he left the computer sitting on a bench inside the school gym and later discovered someone took it. He said he waited so long to report the incident because he hoped someone would locate or return his computer.

DANGEROUSLY DRUNK

A concerned mother called police Jan. 21 to report her 15-year-old daughter was brought home heavily intoxicated.

Sammamish police arrived to find the girl sitting in a parking lot unresponsive with a group of friends.

The girl was loaded into an ambulance and taken to Harborview Medical Center. Her friends would not give away the location of the party they came from, but admitted to drinking 1/3 of a fifth of vodka and “shot-gunning” three to four beers.

CRANK CALLER

A 17-year-old Sammamish girl called police Jan. 19 to report a harassing phone call she received on her cell.

The girl said the caller indicated he was with the American Cancer Society, then began asking inappropriate questions, like “what is your bra size?”

Police performed a search on the number, but results came back empty. The area code was from Rhode Island. Police provided safety tips to the girl and told her to contact them if she received any future calls from the number.

CAR EGGING

A Sammamish woman called police Jan. 26 to report that her daughter’s car was egged at some point during the evening. It appeared the car was hit with between six and 10 eggs. Police advised the woman to clean the car off quickly before the egg dried.

The victims were unsure of who would want to do this to the car.

Police were called to the Sammamish McDonald’s the evening of Jan. 25 after someone reportedly threw a beer bottle at one of the windows on the north side of the restaurant.

Teens in the restaurant identified the suspect as an Issaquah High School student and said he fled the area on foot. The window wasn’t broken.
