Former Skyline wide receiver and All-American Kasen Williams, currently a rising junior with the University of Washington football program, was cited in Chelan County in May for driving a motor vehicle after having consumed alcohol or marijuana and paid a series of fines totaling $695.50 this week to resolve the case in Chelan County District Court.

According to the arrest record, Williams was spotted speeding in a 30 mph zone by a Washington State Trooper just before midnight on May 26 heading northbound on State Route 97A.

The trooper verified the speed electronically and clocked Williams at 45 mph, before pulling him over in a hotel parking lot.

The record states the trooper noticed Williams’ eyes were “red and watery” when he exited the vehicle and could smell marijuana and alcohol on his breath. Williams admitted to consuming one alcoholic drink earlier in the evening and the trooper also noticed a “large glass smoking device commonly used for the ingestion of marijuana,” in the car.

Williams was arrested and taken to Chelan County District Court before being released later in the evening. A passenger in the vehicle at the time of the arrest, who was not identified, was allowed to leave.

The matter was closed in the court system after Williams paid his fines and agreed to two years of supervised probation, but he could still face disciplinary action from head football coach Steve Sarkisian as it relates to the upcoming 2013 season.

Williams was a superstar at Skyline before graduating in 2011 and seeing action in all 13 games for UW during his freshman season. In addition to being named Parade’s Player of the Year as a senior, Williams was MaxPreps.com National Athlete of the Year for all sports and a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year, once in football and once in track and field.

Expected to be a key target again, he was an honorable mention All-Pac 12 selection for the Huskies in 2012 and caught 77 passes, most on the team and third most in a single season at UW.
