Lakeside senior legion headed to state

The Lakeside Baseball Club senior legion squad is headed to the state tournament in Selah after a pair of wins in the sub-regional over Yakima Pepsi and Pacific Tech Construction.

The Spokane Bandits await in the opening round, which will be played at 4 p.m. on July 28 at Carlon Park, the home of the 3A and 4A state title games during the latest prep season.

A win will set a quarterfinal date with either the Kennewick Bandits or Hanford Flames, while a loss will put Lakeside one win from elimination and the end of the season.

The Lakeside senior legion team is coached by Issaquah head baseball coach Rob Reese and features players from Newport, Skyline and Issaquah high schools. The team is 27-12 heading into state tournament play.
