Too much traffic monitoring?

As a citizen of Issaquah, I wanted to voice my concern about what seems to be an new defining characteristic of Issaquah — monitoring traffic.

The new traffic monitoring cameras are the ultimate defining statement for me.

I live in Issaquah Highlands, and everyday I take my kid to school in Bellevue.

Almost everyday there is some police car hiding trying to catch someone either speeding or not stopping completely at a stop sign.

If I continued down Sunset Way we could drive by the big, new police station, or we could now take a left onto 2nd Avenue to be monitored by traffic cameras.

Why so much policing?

Is the neighborhood really that full of irresponsible people who can’t be trusted, or is it really about something else?

I have never received a speeding ticket in Issaquah, nor any moving violation for many years.
