Sammamish City Council unanimously extended the emergency tree ordinance it passed in October 2014 for another six months.

The planning commission is currently working developing permanent codes, which they hope to bring to the council by June.

The emergency ordinance increases the percentage of trees developers must maintain from 25 percent to 35 percent.

The ordinance also restricts developers from counting trees in wetlands, which they could do previously.
