The Master Builders Career Connection, a foundation that promotes, prepares and recruits qualified workers to join the residential construction industry, will cease to operate this month. The foundation is distributing $85,150 in grants immediately and transferring $365,000 in assets to The Seattle Foundation in order to continue its legacy of providing scholarships, training and outreach to those interested and involved in the homebuilding industry.

Until January 2014, MBCC was one of two philanthropic arms of the Bellevue-based Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish County. In January, the Master Builders Association separated from the two organizations, and at that time, the MBCC board began to examine ways they could continue community stewardship.

“We encourage qualified 501 (c) 3 organizations, including high schools and colleges to apply for grant money through The Seattle Foundation,” said MBCC President Duana Kolouskova. “People who want to continue to help create awareness and opportunity of careers in residential construction can donate to The Seattle Foundation.”
