For anyone who travels 520 and I-90 regularly it is a no-brainer to know that there must be tolls on both bridges: to avoid an overload of traffic on I-90 (remember what traffic on I-90 is like when 520 is closed for inspection?) and to raise the level of revenue required for building/maintenance of a new bridge. The current projection of the fee for “each trip” will affect commuters who want to attend sports, and arts events. In many parts of the country, bridges have tolls one way only. Why not do this?
Tolls on only one bridge actually works against positive desired outcomes – raise revenue; keep traffic flowing; keep commuters and businesses happy to live, work and play in this area.
