There’s still time to register for Friends of Youth’s first Issaquah Youth and Family Services Fundraising Breakfast to increase counseling support for youth in the Issaquah School District community. The Dec. 3 event also will raise awareness of the many services and programs Friends of Youth provides to support parents, families, children and youth.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. with breakfast beginning at 7:30. The event will be held at Pickering Barn, 1730 10th Ave. NW, Issaquah.

Last year, the Youth and Family Services Program provided a minimum of three hours per week of pro bono counseling in high schools, serving a total of 98 students. The need for services is growing and waiting lists for students who need Friends of Youth’s services.

Counselors provide help for kids wrestling with depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment difficulties and substance abuse. Friends of Youth works with the Issaquah School District, Issaquah Community Network and other community supporters.

Michelle Proulx, M.Ed. NCSP, will discuss the role counseling plays in promoting positive outcomes for children and young people in school and life. A client speaker will share his story of hope and transformation after their experience working with Friends of Youth’s Youth and Family Services counseling program.
