The Issaquah School District, which is the largest food provider in the city, has finally made the switch from styrofoam to biodegradable materials for its lunches.

The change was required by a new city ordinance.

It cost about $40,000-$50,000, said Jake Kuper, the district’s business chief. The costs were passed along to families.
