Giancarlo Santoro got the Spartans on the board in the 8th minute with an unassisted goal. Braxton Griffin followed in the 11th minute with a score off an assist from Mitchell Kim.

Kim punched in one more in the 40th minute, right before halftime.

Steven Pankiewicz earned the shutout in goal for the Spartans.

Skyline (11-5-2) begins the 4A state tournament at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 18 against Puyuallup (12-2-4) at Sparks Stadium.

Eastlake loses late lead to Evergreen, season ends

Eastlake held a 3-0 halftime lead over Evergreen in Vancouver Saturday afternoon, and led by as many as 4-1 with 30 minutes to go, but couldn’t hang on.

The Plainsmen rallied from behind to beat the Wolves 5-4 in overtime, ending an impressive run at the state tournament.

Nick Rudella had three goals in the first half and Renato Bandeira added another for Eastlake’s fast start.

The Wolves ended their season with a 9-5-3 record, while Evergreen moved into the 4A state tournament where it will host Todd Beamer in the first round.
