The Rotary Club of Sammamish last month honored two Eastside Catholic High School students.
Chosen were Mark Sonderman for history and Tess Suhrbier for English.
Sonderman is the son of Nancy Sonderman. He said that he particularly enjoys history, math and the sciences. Outside school, he has fun golfing skiing, and watching movies.
Sonderman plays varsity soccer, volunteers at Harrington House, a home for homeless pregnant woman, has a 3.97 GPA and is a National Merit commended scholar. He also acted in the fall play, coaches a middle school soccer team, won second place in the Northwest Student Biotechnology Fair’s career/industry category and was in the group that placed first for group documentaries at the Washington State History Day Puget Sound regional competition.
Sonderman hopes to study engineering and pursue a career in applied sciences.
Suhrbier is the daughter of Craig and Liz Suhrbier. She enjoys English, integrated humanities and social sciences. In addition to academics, she likes cheerleading, theater, choir and performing as a soloist.
Suhrbier, her mother and her sister established a charity called Giving Love and More (GLAM) to collect and distribute cosmetic items to homeless women to enhance self esteem. She is involved in National Honor Society, is cheer captain and was homecoming queen.
Suhrbier hopes to major in musical theater, English or journalism.
