Issaquah kept its state playoff hopes alive Thursday night, holding off Eastlake 52-48 in a KingCo 4A loser-out game at Juanita High School.

The win moves the Eagles (20-4) into a winner-to-state, loser-out game at 7:30 p.m., Saturday against Evergreen (18-4) in Vancouver.

Issaquah and Eastlake went back and forth in the first half trading leads, but the Eagles grabbed control of the lead in the second half and never let go.

Issaquah pushed its advantage out to as many as eight, 42-34, in the third quarter, but the Wolves weren’t done. Abby Carlson’s three-pointer with 1:08 left in the game, pushed Eastlake to within two points, 48-46. Issaquah executed from the free-throw line in the final 28 seconds, however, going 4-for-6 to seal the victory.

Maddey Pflaumer led Issaquah with 17 points. She scored eight of those points in the first quarter. Domi Mendezona and Mackenzie Schiltz scored 13 apiece for the Eagles.

The Wolves were led by sophomore Kendra Morrison’s game-high 21 points. Senior Alyssa Charlston scored 16 in her final Eastlake game.

“We’re sad that it’s over,” Eastlake coach Scott Sartorious said. “I think we still had some better things we could do, but the girls are really proud and I love it.”

Eastlake ended its season at 14-10.
